Quick Update: Mark Dantonio went in for a check up on Thursday and a blood clot was found in his leg. This isn't uncommon for his situation, but as a precautionary measure, he will not be at the game today. News coming from AD Mark Hollis. Get well soon, Coach! Anyways....
It's Gameday!!!! Wisconsin @ MSU kicks off at 3:30 here's a few things to expect from the game:
1. Wisconsin returns all of the dangerous parts of their offense from last year - QB Scott Tolzien is one of the most efficient in the country in passing, RB John Clay is a bowling ball who gives every team fits, and the WR/TE combo of Nick Toon and Lance Kendricks are matchup problems teams would like to avoid. The Spartan defense is improved since these two teams last meetings, but they need to be better to stop this offense.
2. Wisconsin's defense has been underachieving all year. They saved a win against Arizona State by blocking an extra point, but have let opposing running back's run quite a bit since they lost their starting middle LB for the year. They have a better defense than what MSU's seen all year, but among running backs with over 40 carries, BOTH Edwin Baker and Leveon Bell are in the top 10 NATIONALLY in yards per carry. MSU should be able to run the ball well.
3. The MSU Offense will be more potent against the Badgers than they were last year - Cousins is the sure-thing starting QB, the RB's have developed, but there is still no "go-to" receiver (it was Blair White). As stated before, Wisconsin's D has been suspect...
Bold Prediction: Both defenses are not on the same level as the opposing team's offense. This will turn into somewhat of a shootout and I really think it will be a close one, much like 2008. Baker hits 100 yards again and Bell tacks on another 50. Both Cousins and Tolzien are going to make the opposing defenses pay. I like the Spartans in this one.
